Course Narrative
In SPAN 426 we were able to read short stories. For example, I read stories of Luisa Valenzuela, Jorge Luis Borges, Juan Rulfo and Julio Cortazar. Not only I read stories but I read some books too. I read a book of Rosario Ferre, a book of Carlos Fuentes, a book of Mario Vargas Llosa and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The books are so interesting and we were able to analyze them. We analyzed the stories too. We were able to learned about Latino culture, societies and values. I did a analysis in two of the stories of Luisa Valenzuela. I really liked those stories. I chose the story “De noche soy tu caballo” which means "At night I am your horse." Also, I chose the story “Aquí pasan cosas raras” which means "Rare things happen here" In addition, I analyzed the themes "the Paranoia and the oppression” through these stories because I think it is so important to mention these important aspects. I gained how analyze themes through a story and a novel. I gained the ability to read a book in a week or less than a week. It was so difficult for me, but I did it. I wish to develop further in reading more novels and stories. I think this course has a connection with SPAN 304 and SPAN 321 because the three classes are about analyze. I intend to further explore this experience by reading more because if do it I will comprehend the readings better. The most I read, the most knowledge I will obtain.
